Presenile dementia concomitant with Sjogren's syndrome：A Case Report

Abstract

What etiology would you think of apart from classic degenerative cause for a dementia lady to make a diagnosis of AD at her age of 58? It has been reported that a 65-year-old female had got declining speech for the past seven years，concomitant with “rampant caries”in her mouth and “vitiligo”on her skin. She was also allergic to penicillin，together with an abnormal subpopulation of lymphocytes (TBNK) and multiple foci of demyelination seen on her brain CT （limbic system). Finally，a diagnosis of presenile dementia resulting from Sjogren's syndrome was established for this lady，suggesting that the autoimmunity mechanism may be involved in the pathogenesis of presenile dementia in a relatively young person.
