Abstract

3 auxin protectors, which were o-dihydroxyphenols of high molecular weight, were isolated fromZizyphus gall tissues. An increase in polyphenol oxidase activity in the gall tissue was observed which probably led to the production of high levels of auxin protectors. This prevented IAA oxidation, resulting in hyperauxinity and auxin-autotrophy.
