Abstract

This study which is entitled “Prepositional Meanings in English and Kurdish”, is a comparative study which investigates the construction of prepositional meanings in both English and Kurdish languages, and sheds light at the aspects of similarities and /or differences of these grammatical components. The aim of this paper is to demonstrate Prepositional Meanings in both English and Kurdish Languages, and clarify to which extent prepositional meanings share similarity and different aspects. To achieve the aims, the researchers try to define prepositions, categorize them and present their meanings in English and then in Kurdish depending on the available literature. As a result, a number of conclusions are arrived at which indicate that prepositional meanings share a number of similarities and differences in both languages. However, the aspects of similarity tends to be more than dissimilarity.
