Abstract
Prepositions can be extremely difficult for English language learners. While instructors can certainly tell students the correct preposition, asking them to search for it themselves can prompt more meaningful learning and help students remember it in the future. Google Books Ngram Viewer uses the text from Google Books to create clear graphs of word and phrase frequencies, and, in this case, preposition usage. Students of all levels can learn to use the easy search function to locate the most commonly used preposition in the verb + preposition or adjective + preposition phrase about which they are uncertain. This chapter takes readers step by step through the process of using Google Books Ngram Viewer to help students revise their preposition use in their own writing.
