Abstract

In a global society where textile and apparel graduates will be increasingly exposed to different cultures through their industry positions, it is important to ensure that they are educated to understand and behave as global citizens. The primary purpose of this article is to illuminate the need for including a global citizenship competency in the textile and apparel curriculum. The secondary purpose is to share classroom techniques and methods that have been used successfully to enhance undergraduate students' understanding of key issues for the textile and apparel industry and to have them analyze and address problems in the industry with globally responsible knowledge and behaviors.
