Abstract
Lately, Solar Photovoltaic Technology has become emblematic of the cleaner and greener power generation source. It also bestows various other benefits like onsite distributed power generation, modularity depending upon the electric power demand, etc. However, the smooth reflective surface of solar panels can sometimes cause nuisances like Glint and Glare. If not addressed, these can cause serious hazards at airports, highways, etc. Several countries have released guidelines for siting solar PV at airports and buildings to avoid glint and glare. In contrast, India does not have any such guidelines as of now. Such guidelines will become the need of the hour considering the increasing rate of solar installation in the country. Hence, to help relevant authorities draft appropriate guidelines, a solar PV siting framework and summary of best practices followed internationally have been proposed.
