Abstract

The iminic derivative 4-(2,4-dichlorobenzylideneamino)-5-methyl-2H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thione (LH) was prepared by the reaction of 4-amino-5-methyl-2H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thione and 2,4-dichlorobenzaldehyde. The reaction of LH with AgNO3 and PPh3 in methanol/chloroform solution gave a new silver(I) complex [(PPh3)3AgL]·CH3OH, which was characterized by infrared spectroscopy, 31P NMR, and elemental analyses as well as by X-ray diffraction studies. The silver(I) ion in the complex is tetrahedrally coordinated by an S atom from a monodentate Schiff-based ligand L and by three P atoms from triphenylphosphine molecules. There is also one methanol molecule of crystallization in the structure. The molecules of [(PPh3)3AgL] and methanol molecules of crystallization are assembled together into an infinite 3D framework by O–H···N hydrogen bonds, weak C–H···Cl and C–H···O hydrogen bonds, and π–π interactions. .
