Abstract

The reactions of potassium 2-thiooxamate (K +HL −) and potassium N-methyl-2-thiooxamate (K +HA −) with divalent metal ions yield a variety of products. The anions HL − and HA − behave as O,S bidentate chelating ligands, while L 2− and A 2− act as O,N/O,S bis-bidentate bridging ligands yielding polymeric complexes. The crystal structures of trans-[Mn(HL) 2(H 2O) 2], trans-[Cd(HL) 2(H 2O 2] and cis-[Mn(HA) 2(H 2O) 2]·H 2O have been solved. Some properties of the complexes prepared are also described.
