Abstract

ZrO2–Y2O3 films were prepared over the entire composition range. Their phase composition was determined, and the conditions for the formation of cubic ZrO2-based solid solutions were established. The optical properties of the films were found to depend on their thickness and phase composition and the nature of the substrate. The composition dependence of the refractive index was shown to correlate with the phase composition of the films.
