Abstract

A Zr·Al metallo-organic compound was spray-dried and calcined at 600 to 1400°C to prepare tetragonal ZrO 2 dispersed Al 2O 3 powder of balloon panicles. The ZrO 2·Al 2O 3 composite powder was sintered at 1500°C and porous ceramics were obtained in which a tetragonal to monoclinic stress-induced transformation of ZrO 2 was detected.
