Abstract

The liquid phase epitaxy (LPE) is one of the most useful growth technique to make fairly thick crystalline films of high quality. We prepared YBa2Cu3Oy (YBaCuO) films by the LPE technique. BaO-CuO was used as flux, and the substrates were put into the molten solution at 990–1010°C for 10–60 min in an yttria crucible. We tried to grow single crystalline YBaCuO films on substrate of MgO (100), SrTiO3 (100), LaAlO3 (100) and NdGaO3 (110). We obtained the c-axis oriented YBaCuO films with 30μim thickness on MgO and NdGaO3 substrates. Superconducting transition temperature was typically 86K after annealing at 500 °C in oxygen atmosphere.
