Abstract

Trilayer films of YBa2Cu3O7−x(YBCO)/Y2O3/ YBCO were prepared on LaAlO3 (100) single-crystal substrates using sol-gel method. The results indicated that both the YBCO and the Y2O3 films in the trilayer exhibited remarkable biaxial texture characteristics. The epitaxial relationship between the Y2O3 and YBCO films was Y2O3∥ YBCO, Y2O3∥ YBCO, and the interface of both films was well-defined. The top and bottom YBCO layers in the trilayer exhibited zero resistance at 88 K. When the nominal thickness of the Y2O3 interlayer in the trilayer was 180 nm, the V − I curve was linear, and the resistivity between the two YBCO layers was 2.5 × 106 Ω cm. These results demonstrated that YBCO/Y2O3/YBCO trilayer could be realized using the sol-gel method, which is inexpensive and easy to scale up.
