Abstract

Ag(1 1 0) single crystalline substrate and Ag{1 1 0} 〈1 1 0〉 textured tape were investigated as one of the functional substrate, on which YBCO film with high J c property could be formed directly. J c of YBCO film deposited directly on Ag(1 1 0) substrate was 10 4 A/cm 2 orders of magnitude, which was as same as one on Ag non-textured substrate. It was considered that J c was limited by the interfacial reaction between YBCO and Ag, especially Cu diffusion into Ag substrate during the YBCO deposition. However, J c was improved up to 10 5 A/cm 2 orders of magnitude by the pre-deposition of Cu-rich YBCO layer or Cu on Ag(1 1 0) substrate and Ag{1 1 0} 〈1 1 0〉 tape. This result means it is important to control the interfacial reaction between YBCO and Ag to obtain high J c by the direct deposition of YBCO film on Ag substrate.
