Abstract

Thin, freestanding porous metal films bearing a dense two-dimensional array of submicroscopic pores were prepared by covering the surface of porous polymeric membranes with a gold/palladium alloy and subsequently removing the polymeric template (see picture). The polymeric membrane itself was prepared on a water surface via particle-assisted wetting of a liquid monomer, subsequent solidification, and removal of the particles.
