Abstract

Abstract Reactions of [Cp*RuCl2]n (Cp* = η5-C5Me5) with ArSH (Ar = Ph, p-ClC6H4 or p-MeC6H4) in CH2Cl2 gave diruthenium complexes [Cp*2Ru2(SAr)3]Cl in high yields. X-Ray analysis of the complex (Ar = Ph) disclosed the existence of the Ru–Ru bond triply bridged by SPh groups. On the other hand, analogous treatment of [Cp*RuCl2]n with PhCH2SH resulted in the formation of a neutral complex [Cp*2Ru2(SCH2Ph)2Cl2].
