The last decade has witnessed a major refocusing of core French education. The general dissatisfaction with the language competence of students, the far-reaching effects of French immersion programs on the understanding of second language learning, and the innovative and powerful influence of Dr. H.H. Stem have created a new form for core French. These changes have been made manifest through the work of the National Core French Study (NCFS).
