Abstract

Abstract A novel charge-transfer (CT) host system with a 1D column-like structure is developed. This 1D column-like structure is formed by the CT interactions between rac-6,6′-dibromo-1,1′-bi-2-naphthol (rac-1) and 1,1′-dimethyl-4,4′-bipyridinium dichloride (MVCl2). n-Alkyl alcohol molecules (guest molecules) can be introduced into the CT host system by tuning of the packing of its 1D CT column-like structure. The diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS) of this host system are sensitive to the type of guest molecules.
