to the city physician. (The Wassermanns were done at the state laboratories.) If the Wassermann were positive, treatment was begun at once. It consisted of arsphenamin, six doses, and mercury in oil intramuscularly, ten doses. The first six of each were given together at intervals of a week. Then followed four mercuries, one each week, and on the eleventh week another blood test was taken. This arrangement made it possible to count on seeing patients once each week and made the follow-up work, which was taken on by the Visiting Nurse Association, somewhat less.
