Abstract

Abstract We tried to prepare silicon carbide-based nanoporous materials using the replica method. The polycarbosilane (PCS) as the SiC precursor filled the mesopores of mesoporous silica as the template, and then calcination and subsequent removal of the silica matrix led to the mesoporous product with a BET specific surface area of 780 m2 g−1. The product had the SiC≈1.9O≈0.9 composition and very low crystallinity, indicating a good resistivity to oxidative conditions.
