Abstract

A new semi-solid casting technology, solid–liquid mixed (SLM) casting, has been developed for the preparation of some fine-grained aluminum alloys with high alloy content. In this process, alloy powder with the same composition or with good wettability was added into the melt and then immediately stirred until the powder is uniformly distributed into the mixture. Compared with common casting and semi-solid casting process, aluminum alloys obtained by this process have better morphology and mechanical properties.
