Abstract
New polyimides having 2-phenylimidazole-4,5-diyl units in the main chain are synthesized by polyaddition or solution polycondensation. The resulting polymers are soluble in sulfuric acid and polar aprotic solvents, have T g 's above 300°C and 5% weight loss temperatures of 493-547°C under nitrogen
