Abstract

Croton aldehyde (2-butenal) is a reactive compound. NaOH and, in the second experiment, KOH were used to get polycrotonic aldehyde. The dependence of alkali concentration and amount of water on the yield of polymerization products was revealed. It was found that the got compounds are not homogeneous, differ in their solubility, composition and physicochemical properties.
