Abstract

This paper reports the preparation of clays pillared with Al-polyoxycations by means of dialysis bags in comparison with the traditional process which involves pillaring in dilute solutions. When applying the dialysis procedure, the influence of varying the time of contact between clay and oligomer through the dialysis bag and of varying the meq Al 3+/g clay ratio has been studied. Increasing the contact time resulted in a decrease in the thermal stability of the pillared clay. Varying the meq Al 3+/g clay ratio, at least in the range used in this study, did not have any influence on the textural parameters. The results of the textural parameters and basal spacings are compared for the samples obtained with both preparation methods.
