Abstract

Heteronuclear complex, La[Fe xCo 1− x (CN) 6]· nH 2O was synthesized and the thermal decomposed products were examined. Single phase of perovskite-type LaFe x Co 1− x O 2 powders were obtained by the thermal decomposition of the complexes even at 600°C. Hexagonal structure is observed for Fe/La<0.5 and orthorhombic (pseudo-cubic) for Fe/La>0.5. From a mechanically mixed and compacted complexes of La[Fe(CN) 6]· nH 2O and La[Co(CN) 6]· nH 2O, perovskite-type LaFe x Co 1− x O 3 oxide could not be formed by thermal decomposition/sintering even at 1100°C. It is concluded that La[Fe xCo 1− x (CN) 6]· nH 2O complex is a suitable precursor to prepare finer and homogeneous perovskite-type LaFe x Co 1− x O 3.
