Abstract

The polyethylene/carbon nanotube shish-kebab structures were prepared by both isothermally and non-isothermally solution crystallization method,and the dispersion of carbon nanotube in xylene was improved.From the TEM images,it is evident that lengths of kebabs were 30~140 nm and 40~180 nm,respectively.And the periodicities were both in the range 35~80 nm.The polyethylene/carbon nanotube shish-kebab structures were well dispersed in the p-xylene solutions after 3 months.And based on the samples obtained during the process,it was obviously that the kebab grew and formed simultaneously.Finally,to investigate the stability of shish-kebab structures,it was washed by boiled xylene for several times.Although,PE chains were dissolved in the process,shish-kebab structures would reform when temperature decreased.
