Abstract

We report on the preparation of sources for the 6.2 keV Mössbauer resonance of 181Ta from cyclotron-produced, carrier-free 181W activity. The experimental linewidth of the Mössbauer resonance W and the source efficiency could be improved in comparison to similar sources produced from neutron-activated 181W. Measured against an absorber of Ta-metal at 300 K we found W=53(1) μm/s.
