Abstract
We have already demonstrated that an air electrode using LaMnO3-supported on LaNiO3 efficiently works as a bi-functional air electrode for oxygen reduction and evolution. In order to improve the bi-functional activity, high specific surface area of nano-LaNiO3 was prepared by a new route using ZnO particles as an aggregation inhibitor. Nano-sized LaNiO3 (ca. 40nm) was successfully prepared after removing ZnO by KOH solution from a LaNiO3–ZnO mixture prepared by a reverse homogeneous precipitation (RHP) method. The result showed that increasing the surface area of LaNiO3 support is very effective in improving both the oxygen reduction and evolution activities.
