Abstract

LaMgNi 4 ternary alloy was synthesized by sintering pressed tablets of mixed powders of Mg, La and Ni. The sintering condition is: 673 K, 3 h→873 K, 3 h→973 K, 3 h. XRD analysis shows that synthesized LaMgNi 4 alloy is a single-component alloy, and a laser particle size method was used to measure the particles of the milled LaMgNi 4 alloy. The electrode properties of LaMgNi 4 alloy were measured by simulated battery test. It was found that the initial discharge capacity of the two alloys milled for 50 h were about 400 mAh/g, but a good cycle life has been observed in the LaMgNi 4 alloy electrode compared with the Mg 2Ni alloy electrode.
