Abstract

Epoxy acrylate emulsions with different amounts of modified hydroxylated boron nitride (OH-BN) were composited by soap-free emulsion polymerization. The surface morphology and structure of BN were characterized by Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and X-ray diffraction spectroscopy (XRD). The thermal stability of the emulsion film was improved by the addition of modified boron nitride, which can be concluded from the thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The improvement of the corrosion resistance of the coating after adding boron nitride was proved by the Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) results. The results showed that coating with 3 % modified OH-BN added in the emulsion had the best anticorrosion performance.
