Abstract

This paper examines the possibility of preparing high-purity sodium-reduced tantalum powders with a large specific surface area. We demonstrate that such powders have a larger specific surface area when prepared using potassium heptafluorotantalate based melts containing tantalum oxyfluoride compounds. The purity and specific surface area of powders thus prepared are suitable for the development of capacitor powders with a specific capacity of up to 100000 μFV/g.
