Abstract

In this paper, the phase change materials suitable for anti-icing and snow melting were investigated and optimized and the silica-based phase change materials were prepared by the sol-gel process with n-dodecane as the core material. The effects of core-shell ratio, temperature, and stirring speed on material synthesis were analyzed by DSC, SEM, and FT-IR tests. Finally, the optimal preparation temperature, stirring speed, and core-shell ratio were obtained, the exothermic peak was -14.88 °C, and the enthalpy value was 75.78 J/g. Its lower phase change temperature makes such phase change materials prepared by the sol-gel method more suitable for low-temperature areas of asphalt pavement anti-low temperature, anti-ice, and snow melting.
