Abstract

Safety is an important part in the use of lithium-ion battery. This paper proposes a coaxial electrospinning method for preparing a flame-retardant lithium-ion battery of triphenyl phosphate (TPP) and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) to prevent the battery from burning. For performance comparison, PVDF and TPP separators with different mass ratios were prepared by coaxial and uniaxial electrospinning. The separator prepared by coaxial electro spinning can wrap the flame retardant much better. The coaxial electrospinning was studied for the preparation of flame-retardant separators. The performances of TPP@PVDF fibrous separators were measured to optimize process parameter. The separator can be used in the best performances when the mass ratio of PVDF to TPP is 2:1. The TPP@PVDF fibrous separator has displayed a great application potential.
