Abstract

With bamboo charcoal(BC) and diatomite as raw materials, crboxyl methyl cllulose (CMC) as pore-forming agent, diatomite-based porous ceramic material containing carbon was prepared, and the effect of CMC contents, molding pressure and sintering temperature on the properties, phase compositions and microstructure of the ceramic and its adsorption to methylene blue (MB) were investigated. The results showed that the porous ceramic possessed high apparent porosity, water absorption, excellent absorbability and porous structure with quartz as main phase. When the sintering temperature was 1000°C and the CMC content was 25wt% and the molding pressure was 5MPa, the porous ceramic had excellent comprehensive properties, its water absorption was 104% and apparent porosity was 71%, the removal rate of MB could reach to 99%. It indicated that the porous ceramic was expected to be a new functional adsorption material.
