Abstract
Several polishing techniques have been developed for obtaining damage-free surfaces on metallic single crystals. These polishing techniques include mechanochemical a combined mechanical-chemical process, and electropolishing, a common electrical-chemical process. The purpose of this report is to describe the use of these techniques to prepare reproducible damage-free surfaces on Al, Cr, Cu, Mo, and W single crystals for use in ion channeling experiments.
