Abstract

The reactivity of the titanium dinitrogen complex (L2Ti)2(μ-N2) (L = PhC(NSiMe3)2) with Lewis bases, sulfur, and oxygen sources is reported. Base adducts, without loss of N2, are formed upon the addition of pyridine or 2,6-dimethylphenyl isocyanide. Reactions with dioxygen, pyridine N-oxide, and elemental sulfur yield the complete series of Ti(IV) bridging/terminal oxo and sulfido derivatives as well as peroxo and sulfido derivatives.
