Abstract

In the study, cellulose nanowhisker (CNW) was prepared by acid hydrolysis of microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) and the both celluloses, CNW and MCC were carbonized at different temperatures. The structures of the carbonized celluloses were characterized using transmission electron microscope, X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy. Comparing with the carbonized MCC, the carbonized CNW showed lower R-value. The better carbon structure was observed when the carbonization temperature was high. The results show that CNW is a promising candidate precursor for carbon nanoweb.
