Abstract

Co9S8 alloy was synthesized through mechanical ball milling, and cobalt/carbon nanofiber (Co/CNF) was prepared by the electrospinning process. The addition of Co and CNF increased the discharge capacity of Co9S8 to 563.4 mA/g. Furthermore, the composite electrode exhibited superior high-rate discharge capability, corrosion resistance, and other kinetic properties. CNF provides high conductivity and more reaction sites for Co nanoparticles. Co nanoparticles participate in redox reactions and show a catalytic effect. Moreover, the synergistic effect of CNF and Co also promotes the electrochemical hydrogen storage and kinetic performances of Co9S8 alloy.
