Abstract

Ca-deficient hydroxyapatite (CDH) is biocompatible, cheap material used in implants and non-biological applications. Due to similarity of CDH with human hard tissues is suitable for manufacturing of bone substituents. Clay minerals are natural materials used for nanoparticles preparation. Combination of non-toxic clay minerals and CDH is suitable for using in medical or catalytic applications.Aim of the study was to prepare CDH on the surface of monoionic Na-form of vermiculites (V) from China and Africa. The CDH was prepared by precipitation under constant mixing or sonication conditions. XRD analysis confirmed successful creation of CDH on the both vermiculite exposing semi-crystalline state of CDH. Bonding interactions between V and CDH were not observed using FTIR methods. Creation of CDH particles on vermiculite surface was observed using scanning electron microscopy where they create film-like layer of small particles. The results showed that vermiculites are appropriate as support for CDH particles.
