Abstract
Although clinically important, white cell differential counts cannot be accurately performed on peripheral blood smears of severely leukopenic patients. A simple technique is described for preparation of buffy coat smears from leukopenic blood that preserves white cell morphology and gives a reasonably accurate representation of the white cell differential count.
