Abstract
Bis-(π-cyclopentadienyl)hafnium bis-tetrahydroborate, (π-C5H5)2Hf(BH4)2, has been prepared and characterised. The bonding between the metal and the tetrahydroborate group is compared in the series of compounds involving titanium, zirconium, and hafnium, (π-C5H5)2TiBH4, (π-C5H5)2Zr(BH4)2, and (π-C5H5)2Hf(BH4)2, by a study of their i.r. spectra and those of the corresponding tetradeuterioborates.
