Abstract

Bead-like PAN/ZIF-8 nanofiber membranes, of which the commercial ZIF-8 nanoparticles attached to the surface of PAN nanofibers, were prepared by a simple one-step electrospinning method. The fiber structures, electrospinning parameters and adsorption capacity to methyl blue were investigated. ZIF-8 distributed uniformly on the nanofiber, and the adsorption process followed the pseudo-second-order kinetics. Maximum adsorption capacity was obtained as 224.37 mg/g at ZIF-8 concentration of 10 wt%, methyl blue concentration of 100 mg/L, and time of 180 min. Our work provides a simple, cost-effective process for the fabrication of MOFs nanofiber membranes with good adsorption capacity that suitable for practical commercial applications.
