Abstract

This paper attempts to utilize the two-stage method of microarc oxidation (MAO) and then the cathodic reduction method to prepare silver element contained in titanium oxide coating. The effects of MAO voltages, reduction voltages, and time on the surface morphology, silver content, and antibacterial and bioactivity properties of the coatings are investigated. The results show that the quantity of bacteria lessened around titanium oxide coating with silver contained. Furthermore, the higher the silver content is, the lesser the number of bacteria around.
