Abstract
We show that amorphous alloy powders of TiSi can be produced over a broad compositional range by mechanical alloying of the elemental powders in a vibro mill. The mechanism of amorphous phase formation and the glass-forming range are investigated by means of X-ray diffraction, differential thermal analysis and scanning electron microscopy. To our best knowledge amorphous TiSi alloy has not until now been produced by mechanical alloying.
