Abstract
(As 0.33Cu 0.67)Sr 2YCu 2O y was newly prepared. (As 0.33Cu 0.67)Sr 2YCu 2O 6.88 has a tetragonal unit cell with a = 3.829(6), c = 11.47(1) A ̊ . Annealing the sample in oxygen led to an increase in the Cu valence as large as 2.38. However, resistivity measurements show that (As 0.33Cu 0.67)Sr 2YCu 2O 6.88 is not superconducting but semiconducting.
