Abstract
Abstract2‐Methylanthracene can be synthesised by batchwise cyclodehydration of 2,5‐dimethylbenzophenone by the Elbs reaction in about 15% of the theoretical yield, but this can be raised to 63% by use of an activated carbon catalyst in a continuous process with benzene as solvent.
