Abstract

Undergraduates planning graduate study in one of the geological sciences need to take a broader range of courses than those seeking a terminal degree. It is important that they have a wide range of science and technology courses in addition to their geology courses so that they can enter any of the geological science specialties without deficiencies. Data are presented on how deficiencies impede graduate study. The results of a questionnaire are summarized, showing what courses are most important for an undergraduate geology major to have taken if he plans graduate work in geophysics or geochemistry.
