Abstract

AbstractBis(N‐butoxycarbonyl indroquinoxaline) derivatives with various junctures and various arylene units were prepared. Optical and electrochemical properties were dependent not only on the juncture system but also on the introduced arylene unit at the two indroquinoxalines. Both heating and addition of trifluoroacetic acid to the compounds afforded cleavage of the N‐butoxycarbonyl (Boc) unit to form bis(N−H type indroquinoxaline) derivatives. Conversion of the Boc unit caused optical properties to change. These suggest that the properties of the indroquinoxaline derivatives are expected to be changed by chemical modification.
