Abstract

Two complexes of cobalt and zinc have been prepared with the molecular formula [Co(n − pa)3(ClO4)(H2O)]ClO4 and [Zn(n − pa)3(ClO4)(H2O)]ClO4, where n − pa = n-propylamine. These complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, thermogravimetry (TG), ultraviolet/visible, and infrared spectroscopic data. The thermal properties have been investigated using TG in static air and by simultaneous TG/derivative TG/differential thermal analysis inflowing nitrogen atmosphere. The kinetics of thermolysis has been analyzed by applying model-fitting and model-free isoconversional methods using isothermal TG data recorded at five different temperatures. To observe the response of these complexes to fast heating, the explosion delay time has been recorded at various temperatures and their kinetics has been studied using these data.
