Abstract

Brain slicing is a laboratory technique in the study of the central nervous system. Among the many different brain slices described, the hippocampal slices prepared from rodents have been widely used in electrophysiology and basic neuroscience because of the well-known cytostructures and fiber connections in the hippocampus. To be successful in subsequent experiments, it is essential to prepare the brain slices with minimal damage. This chapter describes the methodologies used in our laboratory in the preparation of hippocampal slices from rodents.
