Abstract
The reactivity of a binuclear complex(I) prepared from the reaction of (Cp(CO)/sub 2/ WCTol) with carbon monoxide and possessing the unusual /mu/-TolC-C(O)-CTol ligand with several unsaturated organic substrates under various reaction conditions has been investigated. In no case was tractable chemistry observed. However, the compound undergoes protonation with great facility at the last site to form a novel /mu/-CTol-C(OH)-CTol ligand. The complex I reacts rapidly with HBF/sub 4/ to yield a single product, which has been spectrographically and crystallographically characterized. 5 references, 1 figures, 3 tables.
